Jolly- German Citizen
I'm not saying I would do any better in their position, but surrendering so soon? Only a few miles from Paris, and only one front to fight on? Anyone, including the Allies, could see we were still winning. I'm sure our soldiers will be happy to come home and see their family's. It is a shame that only 100000 of them get to keep their jobs, shame isn't the best word. More like crime. It is ridiculous to think that we can exist with such a meager force, and all because we threw in the towel essentially a stones through away from victory. We were down but we weren't out, that is until now. This loss is crushing to my nationalism and pride, but I believe the worst part of this is the how much of our land was simply taken away. We lost all of our best farming and industrial regions, as well as all of our territories. That is extremely disappointing due to the incredible amount of energy put into acquiring them. All to be taken away with the stroke of a pen that was forced upon us. I believe French revenge had much to do with that, they certainly couldn't face us on the battle field. Had it not been for Great Brittan and the US France would have crumbled. And have you heard about the new french tank, it has 5 reverse gears and now one forward in case they get attacked from the rear. But they are victorious, needless to say the annual trip to Alsace-Lorraine is pretty much canceled. What a mess we have been put in, the Wiemar government created. They are being called the "November Criminals" for so flippantly handing our country over to the Allies who want nothing else but to exact revenge on us, because truly it is the people who will suffer the most from the Treaty of Versailles, I can already see unemployment sky rocketing, and my German marks now have to be stored in the beet cellar for the weekly grocery trip. The plus side, my children get a new set of building blocks, and they think they are wealthy with the stacks of marks they plat with. If only that were true, they have more value as firewood than currency. All because the November criminals surrendered prematurely and allowed us to be penalized 33 billion dollars. Whoever thought up the idea of printing money, can personally be blamed for our hyper inflation. But at least the United States is at least trying to help us, we are eternally thankful for their support. Unlike our government. But for now they will have to do, we are starving and have no money but hopefully with time they will turn it around. I can only hope.
