As a German citizen, I am conflicted. I’m not sure what to make of these new Weimar folks. One the one hand, I am not happy about the way they dealt with the war. We were so close! And yet they decided to pull us out at the last moment. I think if we had stuck with it, we could have pushed through and been successful. But the Weimar folks decided to pull us out to soon and disgrace our dear Germany. And not to mention the hit to the motherland’s economy and pride. We’ve lost our best land (my uncle that lives in Saarland isn’t even a German citizen anymore! That land had been in the family for generations) and as such, have lost much of our livelihood. How are we supposed to buy food or for our families pay for war debts if we have no land to work? And the money we do have is not sufficient in today’s economy. The price of bread these days! With the rate of inflation, what used to buy me a week of food now can barely buy a meal. And each time I go to the store, everything costs more. My children are going to starve. And on top of that, those countries we were fighting, they want us to pay them back for everything, like it was our fault. Was that part of the treaty those Weimar people signed to jerk us out of the war? That us poor, hard-working Germans are to blame? I see not how this is our fault; they declared war on us. We’ve lost land, we’ve lost money already in the fight, and we’ve lost so many of our sons that would have worked and produced and built up the economy. Even so, we now bear not only the burden of paying off exorbitant sums, but also the shame of being called violent, belligerent brutes. What’s more, now we’re asking our enemies, the people that were killing us not a year ago, to help us. The shame! We were just trying to uphold the honor of our beloved Germany and protect our identity. Now look at us, starved, floundering, and begging for charity.
Despite all that has resulted from the accursed Versaille treaty, though, I haven’t completely lost faith in the Weimar Republic. Sure, they are largely responsible for the wasted lives, the money that now must be collected, our starving children, our crumbling economy, ect. But they are not the worst thing that could happen to us. I’ve heard talk of these other groups, called the Spartacists or some malarkey like that. They are calling for violent uprisings to the end of communism. This, frankly, scares the crap out of me. The economy will get better; it just takes time. But if we let some radical left-wing party take control, who knows what kind of nightmare we will be stuck in and how long it could last? No, I’d rather tighten my belt for now and keep my right to vote. If this situation continues, at least I can vote out these folks. If the Spartacist seize power, you think we could say a word against them? I think not. I don’t like our current situation, no, not one bit. But things are going to get better. I have faith those Weimars are going to pull it together, and so are the German people.

My dear friend, I am glad that you still have some faith because i do not. Those blasted Weimar fools are just to young to lead. I would rather have a strong person who makes my decisions for me than a weak fool who cannot protect himself much least protect me. Weimar may be good for a few but I'm starting to believe that the crazy guy who ranted in that beer hall is right. Umm...what was his name? Oh well, it doesnt matter, he won't ever be famous. Now back to the subject. When I was in the military fighting for Germany, it was rigourous, dah, but it was good. I mean what is a world without rules. I believe that those Weimar fools should be kicked out for their mistakes. But, I will give them a second chance. But, after that, my size 11 1/2 boot is coming for them.
