Hitler use totalitarianism to maintain his regime. The Three ways was through propaganda, the Jewish persecution, and Nazi ideology.
In Germany, 1933, propaganda started to exist in many ways, however the focal point remained evident. Its main purpose was to “release in terms that made him (Hitler) appear all powerful within the state.” Propaganda had the state thinking the Nazis were a group of rulers that had a very organized way of government. Others may look at they way of governing as, “the biggest confusion in government that had ever existed in civilized state in 12 yrs”. For example, by the Nazis by the Nazis creating the autobahn, long roads, it made the people think things were getting better for Germany. In some eyes the autobahn creation meant the economy and Germany’s circumstance was getting better, on the other hand in all actuality it was hurting Germany for the long run. This creation along with the financial uprising made the people believe the Nazi’s were bringing order to Germany and propaganda was about the same theory. The, “Nazi party wasn’t as organized as propaganda made it out to be” and was “disorganized and chaotic”. Propaganda made a person who “lacked personal qualities that make a leader practically effective” seem so superior. This was created mainly by Gobbles the minister in of propaganda and popular enlighten. This guy banned other ideologies on the radio when he called broadcasters and said, “We will place the radio in the service of our ideology and no other ideology will find expression here.” This took away from any citizens who believed in those ideologies that were being banned and allowed the Nazi ideology to dominate. Since it was the only rules the Germans would hear it increased the followers and a cheaper radio was produced and “broadcasts were made in public places” propaganda allowed this specific ideology to be heard. “Goebbels introduced the Nazi songs and militaristic uniforms to increase the influence the regime over the individual”. This worked because it created a way for all German people to come together and worship the same person by using the same way. This also helped spot when people went against the rule and needed to be punished. Through propaganda the Nazis said judism equaled bolshevism which also helped point out the people who they thought harmed Germany. Propaganda affects everyone in the German state and pressured each individual to having a belief on the rule.
The Jewish persecution and Nazi ideology was a method that Hitler used for totalitarianism and to maintain his regime”. It was Hitler and the Nazi party that made the Jews the problem” (video). “Jews were scapegoated and blamed for any social unease that arose.” (source 4) The party created the Nuremberg race laws that stated:
1. Reich citizenship act: a citizen of Reich is that subject only who is of German or kindred blood.
2. Law for the protection of German blood and German honor. Marriage between Jews and German citizens forbidden. Extramarital relations between Jews and German citizens forbidden.
These laws took away the rights of the Jews. This can be interpreted as a good thing because according to Hitler and the Nazis the Jews were the problem. If you want to make people proud and feel strong you must put a group down to make the superior group feel better. This better feeling made the Germans think their state was being restored. However in the Jews eyes striping their rights was unfair because they were innocent. One point in time Hitler’s rules were just rules, however when he used concentration camps and police to act on the rules it stated to effect people other then the Jews. For example, on November 9 they destroyed “Jewish shops, homes and synagogues. 100 Jews killed and 20,000 sent to concentration camps”. This affects the families because they had to watch their innocent loved ones get beaten to death. This would cause any individual to have sympathy including the Germans at that time. However, if one person spoke out against the Nazi party and the entire state what could that person accomplish? Nothing.
Therefore the way the Nazi got the message of the neglected Jews around was through propaganda, which affected everyone. However if they felt sympathy to the issue they couldn’t act on it or they would be denounced. Hitler the chancellor, president, and commander of chief of the armed forces used totalitarianism to maintain his regime.
