Hitler used education to support his regime through increasing the Germany's citizens' potential. The National Socialist Teachers' League rose to 97% in 1937. Physical education received 15% of the school time. German, Biology, and History were very important in the curriculum. Elite schools were created, 10 Adolf Hitler schools were created as secondary schools, and 3 college level schools. Their were youth movements for boys which included militaristic and sporting activities. Girls were also a part of youth movements which consisted of maternal and domestic activities.
Improving education in Germany supported Hitler's regime in numerous ways. For starters, it showed the citizens that Germany was making a change, and that Hitler could be trusted as a leader. Hitler's plans for education also would improve Germany's citizens potential through the curriculum and programs that Hitler had set out for them. I believe that Hitler focused on the future. And education was the best place to start because if you have knowledge, your goals and potential for life are taken to another level because you "know what you know". Youth outreaches for males prepared them for the future, generally for "man's work" and the military. And girls' outreaches mainly for "women's work" or house work. This was Hitler's vision for Germany and a great way to support his regime.
All of these methods to advance German citizens' potential are outstanding. Hitler had a great idea that could take Germany far and better Germany as a country and support his regime as a leader. However, it should not have been what Germany needed to FOCUS on at the time. Germany still needed to improve it's economy and it's country. Results from Hitler pushing for education at the time shows the following.
-Elite schools declined.
-The Hitler Youth encountered difficulties.
-It expanded too rapidly and was poorly led.
-The diet of military drill was not appreciated by the males.
-The youth movements induced alienation within the young ppl of the regime.
Before any success, first must come a setback or a chance for failure. Arguments could say that these were a part of the "setbacks". But personally, I believe that if Hitler would have thought out a "plan" to approach education including A BETTER TIME, his plan would have achieved more than what it did.
Arguments could be made that this was a way to recover Germany from it's previous circumstances. It is a great idea and YES it improves Germany, but what you must improve and stabilize the economy and leadership. THEN you can focus on other issues, for example, education. Hitler had the right methods, and with Germany's circumstances of drastically increasing unemployment rates, debt, and more, this was a way to show GERMAN CITIZENS that "Germany was improving".
Hitler's method for education DEFINITELY helped to support his regime. German citizens needed assurance and hope for a better tomorrow. With Hitler's approach to education, German citizens were lead to believe that Germany was changing and this led to the support of Hitler. But can we blame them? No because any chance to better the country, they took, and Hitler still gained power.
