Shawana Burris

There were many factors that lead up to the rise of Hitler and the Nazi Party. During the time that Hitler was trying to be in power Germany was facing many challenges and Issues. Hitler did not gain power in Germany suddenly, it was a ladder process. Hitler and the Nazi Party rose to power in Germany due to poor conditions under the Weimar Government and propaganda.
Although Hitler is known for his malevolence ways towards anyone that may oppose him, he gained power in Germany legally. Events that led to the rise of Hitler were World War I, the Weimar Government taking blame for the war, debt, rapid inflation, lost of land, and a high unemployment rate. World War I was the Great War in which Germany was forced by their leader to drop out of. “The Weimar Government signed the Treaty of Versailles.” (Belk) The Treaty of Versailles caused Germany to uphold the war-guilt clause. Along with the war-guilt clause came the lost of land, debt, rapid inflation, and unemployed citizens. Germany’s economy was in trouble and it was experiencing a depression. “There was a 13% of land lost, 40% of iron production cut, and 16% of coal production cut.” (Belk) Land that was used to produce goods and for other survival reasons was taken away by Germany’s opponents in the war, leaving Germany with the short end of the stick. Consumer goods had to be cut because Germany was suffering a depression, meaning they no longer had the amount of workers to produce great amounts of goods anymore. The value of money and gold rapidly went down causing the country to experience rapid inflation. Germany’s economy was suffering very badly and slowly “Hitler seemed to be the salvation of the people because of the poor economy.” (Video) Germany was longing for a savior to help strengthen the economy and Hitler used legal methods that he needed to rise.
Hitler’s main method that caused him to rise to power was propaganda. Hitler hung many convincing fliers and posters up. In the beginning of Hitler and the Nazi Party’s fight to gain power they only had 2.6% of votes in 1928. As Hitler started to advertise himself more and as the economy seemed to get worse, the popularity of Hitler and the Nazi Party began to rise. “By 1932 Hitler received 37% of votes, and he was chancellor by 1933” Hitler gained support because he bashed the broken promises that was made by the Weimar Government. Hitler never made any promises to the people of Germany; he only made suggestions and stated his opinion. “Hitler said that he could re-build the country in national unity.” And the people of Germany were eager for reconstruction, so they began to support Hitler. As apart of Hitler’s campaign “Nazis had parties and numbered the starting at 500 to make it look like they have more people.” (Video) The Nazi Party wanted to enforce their popularity by intimidating the people that attended their parties, so that they could gain more support. And this is how the immorality activities of Hitler began…

  1. I gave you a 9.
You definitely understood the question asked and it was answered with good coherent details and a strong argument. But, it seemed very factual. It was like "this happened this happened and this happened. Then Hitler did this and this and this" But it didn't say "this happened which caused this to happen which made the people feel this way" The facts were there but the analysis wasn't fully developed.
