As the Weimar Government under went a collapse, Hitler then used these conditions in which the Weimar Government would call failures to help him rise to power in Germany.
Hitler took full advantage of the Weimar Governments mistakes in order to prepare himself to rise into power in Germany. Although Hitler and the Nazis understood that conditions were not riped to try to take control right after World War 1 had ended, so they waited and let their opportunity be revealed to them. In the mist of their waiting, they had already begun to prepare and try new things. For an example, Hitler was using his persuasion speeches or propaganda to obtain the peoples support but he could not grasp their support (2). He saw his failures at the Beer Hall Putsch that the conditions and Germany was not ready to go to a dictatorship (2). Just by this attempt, it showed that the people of Germany still had faith in the Weimar Government (3). With the Weimar Government made poor decisions after World War 1, it only made Hitler and the Nazi Party vulnerable to come to power later on. After WW1, there were many economic challenges and decisions had to made, but some decisions were not as wise as others were (2). Germany was in major war debt because they were held most responsible for the war, so that caused a hardship on the country and the people. By signing the war guilt clause, it only made Germany struggle event more because they had to find ways to pay for all of the war debt, and many options became available. The most effective plans that were implemented were the Dawes Plan (1924) and the Young Plan (1929). These plans were implemented by the foreign minister and again show the weakness of the Weimar Government. Hitler would see this as an opportunity because him and the Nazis would see that the Government is weak and cannot handle all of the economic situations and would need help(2). These plans allowed the Weimar Government to pay the war reparations but had to have help from the United States (2). Later these plans will not be effective because America will not be able to support Germany any more. This shows the weakness of the Weimar Government and late Hitler eventually uses that to help his rise into power. Hyperinflation occurred in Germany, causing the money to be worthless and Germany had to turn to outside help (2). Hitler just waited until his opportunity came about like Lenin did to come to the rise of power. Both, Lenin and Hitler had a variety of methods and the conditions were not the same but is shows how countries have similar problems and the methods can vary.2- Belk Notes

B. Miller :)...Your response is answering the question in the sense of what were the conditions and methods of Hitler's rise to power, but your response is very factual. It seems as if you are doing a report of Hitler's rise to power and not an actual analysis. A suggestion would be to add your own personal insight in it more and think more broad and independently instead of just reporting the facts. We already know the facts and now we need to ANALYZE. This is something that I must work on myself... :)On the IB scale i would give it a 9 :)
ReplyDeleteB. Miller, I like how you focus on the economic conditions in Germany that helped lead to the rise of Hitler. You should reflect how specific the rest of your post is going to be by mentioning economic conditions in you thesis. Also remember that the question is asking about Hitler's rise to power, it does not focus on the failures of the Weimar government. Because of this your paper should reflect more of a focus on Hitler's rise. You spend a lot of time in your post detailing how the Weimar party got in the economic situation they were in, shift focus to better answer the question. I would give this post a 10 on the IB markband. =]
ReplyDeleteMiller; Its clear that you have a thesis which is a good thing. However, there was little analysis used. I feel like you used about 85 percent of straight facts and 15 percent of analysis. Your facts were helpful to supporting your thesis however you didnt present yourself as an historian. You made it clear that the weimar governments mistakes helped hitler into power but you should have spent more time telling how he used it against them. You mentioned propaganda and that it was a method but you could have elaborated more. your evidence that you used was good but you should have kept refering back to the thesis in order to prove your point. In additon to refering back, you should have told about how someone else could view the methods or conditions. i would give this post a 9 however if you do the things asked youll surely more up the markband.
ReplyDeleteYour thesis was clearly stated. However, as it being your first and only sentence in your topic paragraph, there is no background knowledge on the subject leading up to the thesis. It seems as if you are relying on the reader to have previous knowledge of Hitler and his rise. Be more explicit. You could do this by describing how Hitler used the weaknesses of the Weimar Government against them. How did he use that information? Did he tell people the weaknesses in his speeches? or did he just try and provide to the people what the Weimar Government could not? Also, i do like it that you included Lenin in your conclusion of Hitler's rise as both are somewhat similar. However, without any background knowledge of Lenin or any other comparison between Lenin's rise and Hitler's rise, you should not have put it in there. You were assuming that the reader had prior knowledge again.
ReplyDeleteI would have to give your essay an 8 but if you were to follow some of my suggestions i believe it could easily be in the 11-13 markband
