Moore- Totally dude

To say that hitler used Totalitarianism to maintain his regime one must know what totalitarianism mean. Totalitarianism is defined as absolute control by the state or a governing branch of a highly centralized institution. Once this is known you may answer the question that Hitler used Totalitarianism to a huge extent.

Hitler used Totalitarianism to maintain his regime at such an extent that drove an entire race from germany and left a country that was siezed in the moment and riding the wave of hatred.
Hitler was said to not really use much authority by not making promises and sleeping all through the days.(2) but he very slowly moved against opponents through his actions by making several points to not be vulnerable. First he would not promise the people anything but change. this allowed him to not have any refutes against him as the other governments did and for him to eliminate opposing people. second he got rid of the bad competition or people that would try to come back and possibly over throw him for example the communists or mostly jews.

Hitler also used the hatred of jews and the idea of a perfect government to rally the people and make them get rid of the one powerful majority that could go against the Nazi party. he puts people in Camps charging them with rediculous things and torturing once in this camp by doing these things he struck fear into peoples hearts and made people not want to step out of line another thing that made the people not wanna step out of line and to go with the wave was the gustopo(2). a factor of fear was huge that it would scare the people into doing what Hitler and the nazi party wanted him to do. This bringing about one rule just fear to the people to a point where they are ruling themselves.

It was through these methods and other minor methods that hitler with a great extent of totalitarianism maintained his regime for a long time. His main goal as it is present was to demolish his opponents make himself invulnerable and to have an unflawful plan. through this is how hitler maintained.

  1. After reading your blog, I definitely agree with you and that Hitler used totalitarianism to maintain his regime. To get his name heard and for people to know who he was, he made speeches and had propoganda. He also brought out the weaknesses of the Weimar Government. He told the people he would bring about change and that is what they wanted so they trusted Hitler even though he did not tell them exactly he was going to go about doing that. Once he got the support of many German's he began to take advantage of that. He started a secret police who went out and tried to find people that were bad talking about Hitler. Hitler also had concentration camps like you said without the people knowing. He denounced people if they did not "fit in" with the rest of the people. If babies or children were deformed, they were allowed to be killed if the doctors agreed they should. In Hitler's mind, his society had to be prefect and anyone that could ruin that were to be prosecuted or sent to concentration camps. I think if people knew this is what he was going to do, they would have never given him the support they did.

  2. Sorry Big Al, but i cant go with you on this one. I completely disagree that Hitler himself used totalitarianism as a tool to maintain power, and I think there's a few flaws in your argument that when examined will help prove my point. In your first body paragraph you talk about the German people "riding the wave of hatred." Well, if totalitarianism is as you define it, then the peoples hate and opinions have nothing to do with it. What you're describing is a nation wide prejudice against the jews caused through propaganda, which because its on the part of the people is the exact opposite of totalitarianism. Also in your second body paragraph you talk about Hitler's need to "rally" the German people. If Hitler was truly a proponent of totalitarianism the opinions of the average German citizen would be of no concern to him, because he would have such a stranglehold on their day to day life that they posed no threat to him. Although I agree with the facts and analysis you provided, I believe you are mislabeling racism, and prejudice as totalitarianism

  3. I agree with you, Alex. =) Hitler used to totalitarianism to maintain his regime. Even if he himself did not have complete control, he ensured that the Nazi Party had complete control. And responding to Kyle saying that the nation was against the Jews because of propaganda, which would be on the part of the people….I believe that helps to show how Hitler ruled using totalitarianism. It wasn’t the German people who put out the propaganda, it was Hitler’s regime to ensure that the people followed his beliefs. The people were simply “brainwashed” by the Nazi party and like puppets, were controlled by Hitler, making every move for him. Hitler was so good with his totalitarianism that he knew how to get the German people to do his dirty work and to “propaganda” them to death until they took on his beliefs.
